Additionally, the QAS Specialist provides day-to-day support and QMS training for laboratory analysts and personnel; works with Laboratory managers on the documentation, monitoring, and proper use of analytical equipment; ensures and validates data integrity and quality assurance processes as they relate to petroleum research and performs root cause analysis, pre-audits, proficiency testing, and/or resolves corrective actions as needed to maintain the highest technical standards and scientific excellence in the CERSC research laboratories. The successful candidate serves as a knowledgeable resource and experienced liaison on QMS-related matters between laboratory personnel, Laboratory Managers, the QMS Manager, and Science Center Management. The expertise and objectives of this position are critical to the successful operation of a research laboratory and production of high-quality, documented, and defensible analytical results in the Energy Resources Program. Successful applicants must meet qualifying education requirements, and specialized experience criteria for QMS and quality assurance implementation and management in an energy research laboratory. Candidates must be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team of geologists, geochemists, physical scientists, and engineers. Excellent communication skills and ability to present quality assurance findings and results in a clear and concise manner, either through written form or oral presentation, is also required.
